European Union Blue Schools. Certificate

Our school, BUSTURIA ESKOLA SAIAKUNTZARAKO ZENTROA (UIHP), has been recognized as part of the European Union Blue Schools, an achievement that reflects our commitment to environmental education and sustainability.

Thanks to the dedication of everyone — students, teachers, and other professionals — we have received the official certificate (leiho berri batean irekitzen da) that distinguishes us as an institution actively promoting environmental care, encouraging responsible practices and innovative projects that contribute to the well-being of our planet.

This is just the beginning of a journey full of learning and action toward a greener and more conscious future

The European Union Blue Schools are an initiative promoted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), aimed at fostering environmental education in schools. This program seeks to engage students in activities related to environmental care and sustainability, through project development and participation in ecological practices.

To receive the recognition of "Blue School," educational institutions must meet certain requirements, such as:

  1. Teaching and promoting sustainability: Schools must integrate environmental education into their curriculum and encourage respect and care for the environment among students.
  2. Developing environmental projects: Schools must implement initiatives that involve the school community, such as recycling, energy saving, biodiversity protection, and responsible resource use.
  3. Conducting environmental assessments: Schools must continuously monitor and evaluate their environmental impact, promoting ongoing improvements in their sustainable practices.
  4. Collaborating with the community: Encouraging active participation from students, teachers, and families in activities related to the environment.

This program, which takes place in several EU countries and beyond, also aims to raise awareness among young people about global environmental challenges and provide them with tools to become responsible citizens in caring for the planet.
