As a member of the HUME research group, his research focuses on the economics of ageing and economic analysis

In addition to his academic duties, in 2014 he joined the Board of Trustees of the BBK Banking Foundation, where he is a member of its Audit Committee and Investment Committee

His previous professional experience includes positions in a global firm such as Deloitte and the management of the Economic Office of the Lehendakaritza-Presidency of the Basque Government

He is also a member of the board of Deusto Business Alumni and the Basque Group of the Club of Rome
